Christina Aguilera and boyfriend were arrested in West Hollywood Tuesday on suspicion of being drunk.
 

Aguilera’s boyfriend, 25-year-old Matthew Rutler, was driving while Christina was in the passenger’s seat of the car that was stopped around 2:45 am Tuesday.
 

Aguilera appeared to be heavily under the influence, according to sheriff’s Deputy Billy McSweeney who pulled the couple over.

As Aguilera was only a passenger, she wasn’t booked, but remains at a West Hollywood sheriff’s station for her own protection.
 

She is expected to be released free of criminal charges.
 

Her boyfriend, on the other hand, wasn’t as lucky. Rutler was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, and bail is set for $30,000.
