The Christian flag pledge follows the same format as the United States Pledge of Allegiance. According to Auburn University, Methodist pastor Lynn Harold Hogue first drafted the pledge in 1908. He wanted to provide a pledge that inspired the same amount of pride and loyalty elicited by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Christian flag pledge is as follows: "I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag and to the Savior for whose kingdom it stands. One brotherhood, uniting all mankind, in service and love."
