Motorcades roaring about with flashing lights are common sights in Washington as diplomats and government officials are ferried about. A motorcade that roared up to the DAR Constitution Hall Tuesday night, however, did not carry a head of state but head case Charlie Sheen, The Washington Post reported.
Sheen, who was running late for his stage show “Violent Torpedo of Truth: Defeat is Not an Option,” somehow got police to escort him from Dulles International Airport to his engagement complete with flashing lights. No one is taking credit for the arrangement which is now under police investigation.
D.C. Council member Phil Mendelson told the Post that “citizens of the District don’t want to see their police force used to escort private citizens and that Charlie Sheen, of all people, is getting a personal escort.” A police spokeswoman would only say the matter is under investigation.
Sheen apparently enjoyed the ride, tweeting about it as he roared into town hitting speeds of at least 80 mph. “[I]n car with Police escort in front and rear!” “[D]riving like someone’s about to deliver a baby! Cop car lights #Spinning!” The tweets have been deleted, the Post reported.
