Which Cell Phone Company Is Best for Families?

Wednesday, 06 April 2011 03:36 PM EDT

As cell phones become better and more reliable and start to offer more features than a landline more people are dropping their landlines altogether. For one phone it is easy to find a cell phone plan that works. But, most people dropping their landlines need to have at least 2 phones, more if there are children. It can be harder to figure out which cell phone plan is best for families than for just one person. Here is a list of some of the cell phone plans that are offered for families.
  • TracFone. TracFone is a prepaid plan. The phones are available at many retailers or online, as are the refill minutes. They offer 3 levels of Value Plans. These plans are just automatically charged at the beginning of the month and minutes are rolled over. The Family Value Plan is the same set up. The first phone is $9.99 a month, each additional phone is $5.99. This plan is good for people who don't use their phone much.
  • Sprint. They have several choices when it comes to family cell phone plans. One is a traditional plan. This plan is best for families who are planning on only talking. It has 450 anytime minutes for $39.99. Each minute over that is $0.45. They also have plans that are Everything Data with Any mobile Anytime plans. It can have up to 5 lines. There are other plans that are less expensive because they don't offer the unlimited provision.
  • AT&T. Their individual plans that include unlimited voice calls, and unlimited texting can be added for $20. Their family plans offer the same. For $119 a month the family plan includes 2 lines. The family plan can include up to 5 lines, with each additional line for $49.99. For another $30 minutes unlimited texting and instant messaging can be added. One benefit to AT&T cell phone family plans is that shared minutes can be rolled over.
These are just a few of the cell phone plans for families. Trying to figure out which cell phone plan is best for any family will take a little time to compare the plans to see if the features work best.
