Owning a cat does not mean you should pick the first cat that meets the eye. A certain amount of know-how about their temperament, family history, and health care should be at your disposal before you decide to own one. Here’s a list of the five best breeds of cats for homebodies:

Alley Cat

This breed of cat is known for its temperament and is a universal favorite for homebodies. They have a thick, silky coat and do not require much grooming. They have a long life span and are ideal house cats given their great resistance to disease compared with pure breeds.

Himalayan
With a short and bulbous appearance, a bushy tail, bright blue eyes, and long hair, this breed has a stout body and is muscular. Himalayans are playful pets and are warm toward people.

Ragdoll
This breed of cat has long silky hair and a strong body. Ragdolls come in many colors. Their effusive nature makes them adorable pets. Ragdolls are famous for their love of food and getting along well with other pets in the family.

Abyssinian
This breed of cat is believed to be the oldest cat breed domesticated by man. It has a soft and shiny coat, almond-shaped eyes, and a muscular body. This cat exudes elegance. Its welcoming attitude toward people makes it a much sought after cat for homebodies.

Sphynx
This cat is conspicuous for being hairless. Some have eyebrows and hair in their ears and a bit of fuzz on their body. This breed is easy to train and is very playful. A great cuddler, they are marked for their devotion to their owner.
