St. Patrick’s day celebrates St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, who interestingly, is not a Catholic saint.
St. Patrick was a missionary in Ireland during the fifth-century. He is remembered for converting many pagans to Christianity, even though most of the legends surrounding him have dissipated over time.
The most popular St. Patty’s Day tradition is wearing green and drinking Irish beer that’s often dyed green. Shamrocks, leprechauns, and corned beef and cabbage remain popular symbols of St. Patrick’s Day.
