What is BPD?
BPD or Borderline personality disorder refers to a series of personality disorders whose symptoms are markedly different from other psychological problems, like bipolar disorder. Some of the common symptoms of borderline personality disorder are:
• Unstable self-image
• Unstable emotions
• Unstable relationships
• Ridiculously high emotional preferences
• Severe and frequent mood swings
• Constantly seeking solace in relationships
• Dangerous and violent behavior
• Suicidal tendencies
• Constant anger and hatred
• Temporary paranoia
• Feelings of anxiety and abandonment
• Excess eating and monetary spending
• Boredom and a feeling of emptiness
• Constantly misunderstanding others
• A feeling of intense isolation and lack of social support
Borderline personality disorder is found to be prevalent in young people. However, there tends to be a gradual decline in the severity of the symptoms as the person grows older. BPD treatment includes psychotherapy and medical intervention.
