Tuesday, 26 July 2011 01:32 PM EDT

An Oklahoma man who attended an “Antiques Roadshow” event in Tulsa has been given quite a surprise: the show’s veteran appraiser, Lark Mason, valued his collection of Chinese carved rhinoceros cups at over $1 million dollars.

Antiques, Roadshow, Oklahoma, Mason, cups, AP photoThe lucky collector, whose name has not been released, brought in five Chinese cups made from rhinoceros horns that he obtained in the 1970s. A rep for the classic show, which will air its 16th season next year, said that the cups are worth somewhere between $1-1.5 million, making the collection the most valuable in “Antiques Roadshow” history.

According to Mason, the cups were often given as gifts to wealthy people for special occasions in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
