Is America for sale? If so, at what price?
This question is especially relevant in the context of recent political events surrounding the nation of Israel.
The attacks on Israel’s democratically elected government whose nation faces hundreds of missiles fired from the north (in the past week alone) going unreported, and continuous threats from Gaza, are a stark reminder of the dangers extant globally — for Israel.
Furthermore, at a time when Hamas, actively targets innocents, while seeking to destroy Israel, it's unconscionable to throw Israel under the bus for political gain.
Not every statement, declaration, or opinion is retractable.
Recently, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. actually denounced Israel’s government, reminding us of this reality.
May we remind the senator (and others!) that Israel is the only democracy in the Mideast.
Its crucial role in fighting terrorism and protecting western interests is sacrosanct.
Schumer crossed a red line.
How?
By seemingly siding with those who seek to harm Israel!
Additionally, Schumer is potentially endangering the stability of the region.
Does he not understand this?
It's understandable that politicians may want to win over a certain demographic or appease groups, but selling out our principles and values to appease certain voting blocks is a most dangerous game, one with lasting consequences.
- Is it worth sacrificing the safety and well-being of a nation, and all of humankind, who has faced oppression for centuries?
- Is it worth ignoring the atrocities committed by terrorist groups in order to score political points?
That answer is starkly clear.
There are certain values and principles that one never should compromise for personal or political gain. The defense of democracy, freedom, and the safety of innocent civilians should always take precedence over political expediency.
Israel may be small, but its importance and significance in the global landscape can't be overstated, nor can it, or should it, ever be discounted.
Some things are not for sale, no matter the price, especially if an agenda-based one, solely to appease pro-Hamas Michigan voters.
Politicians, are you listening?
Sen. Schumer's message is that we are willing to abandon our values and principles.
Such rhetoric is damaging, not only to our reputation as a democratic leader but also to the relationships we have with allies.
Thus, Sen. Schumer must be held accountable for his words and actions.
There was no mistake or misunderstanding on his part, and the damage has been done.
It's imperative that we address the root of this issue, while ensuring that leaders uphold the values upon which our nation was founded.
Anything less would be a betrayal of the trust placed in them.
Vladimir Putin is undoubtedly watching with satisfaction as America's democracy crumbles and its values erode.
Sen. Schumer's recent remarks turn a blind eye to the barbarism of Hamas.
Is the global impression now that our leaders are playing into the hands of our enemies?
We must continue to cohesively stand firm in our commitment to human rights, condemning violence and injustice.
It's no secret that Islamic extremists and their cohorts aim to overtake the West through mass migration and manipulation of our democratic systems.
Additionally, legislative forces like "The Squad," with its radical agenda, actively works to undermine our nation and its values — from within.
We must now ask, who have they influenced, worse, coerced. Sen. Schumer? Others?
Just look at our nation's position with respect to China.
We sold our technology and military research and development in exchange for cheap labor, only to now find ourselves at a disadvantage, globally speaking.
China now dominates in markets, and economically overall.
At What Price Is America for Sale?
Our political leaders need to remember that they are here to serve the American people, not their own interests or the interests of foreign entities. Its not only about winning elections.
It's crucial that elected officials know the American people will hold them accountable and demand transparency in their decisionmaking.
We can't allow our leaders to be swayed by money or power, as this further erodes our democracy, values, and integrity. It's imperative we uphold the principles set forth in our Constitution and ensure that any legislation introduced, or votes placed on the floor adhere to its guidelines, especially now with respect to Israel.
While we may not always agree with every decision of the Israeli government, we can't ignore the fact that they are on the front lines battling relentless enemies.
We should consistently stand with them, and not just when we feel it’s politically expedient to do so.
