U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller has made it clear that the solution to the security crisis in Israel and the Gaza war cannot be achieved without addressing the issue of a Palestinian state.
However, we must consider this: the history of Israel's withdrawals from Gaza and southern Lebanon in the name of peace, with Israel making huge sacrifices to its own security, and doing so based on false promises emanating from UN resolutions and false promises of security, it may well be argued, led to the Oct. 7 massacre.
Thus, the history of Israel's withdrawals from Gaza and southern Lebanon in the name of peace, with the urging of the U.S. and Western countries, serves as a cautionary tale about the trajectory of Mideast policies and strategies, on the part of both the United States and Israel. The nation of Israel has sacrificied much; concurrently the UN has not sufficiently held parties accountable for violations. The UN has not bolstered or upheld their resolutions in the form of clearly discerbible action.
This is the reason why peace cannot be achieved.
Hezbollah and Hamas would have been stopped before the hijacked Lebanon and Gaza by violating UN resolutions. Acts which Israel did more than sacrifce, to implement.
So, it's the UN who shares much of the blame in this regard.
In fact, the UN has the audcacity to come up wiht more anti-Israel resolutions, seemingly daily, while ingoring those who actually pos the greatest threats ti peace in the Gaza region and Lebanon.
However, it's important to recognize that the primary obstacle to the security and prosperity of the Palestinian people is the extremist group Hamas.
Hamas continues to use the Palestinian people as human shields; it diverts funds meant for economic development and humanitarian aid into its own pockets.
Despite Israel's compliance with UN resolutions and withdrawals from these territories, extremist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah have continued to pose threats to the security and stability of the region which resulted in the Oct. 7 massacre, this should be the statement issued by the U.S. and the International community.
Israel sacrificed more then any other country has for peace only to be attacked again and again by those who are afraid to confront the true aggressors.
It's essential for the global community to stand up for the truth and confront the blatant violations of UN resolutions by these extremist groups.
Only by holding such groups accountable and pursuing diplomatic solutions that demand concessions from both sides can a lasting peace be achieved in the region.
The UN and the Western world must learn from past failed solutions and address the root causes of the conflict which is Iran’s Proxies who have no intention of peace.
Blaming a two-state agenda for Israel's security concerns is not the solution.
The focus should be on helping the Palestinian people and bringing security and stability to their lives by addressing the root causes of their suffering.
Israel is not the enemy in this scenario, and the focus should be on bringing security to the Palestinian people.
The U.S. should cease trying to avoid facing the devil directly and identify Hamas and Iran's proxies. This means the U.S., via a united front, calling them out as the biggest security threat to Palestinians.
Cease playing the two-state card and focus on addressing the real issues at hand.
It is important for the U.S. to consider its own track record in the Mideast as well, before offering advice to other countries in the region.
The failures in war in Afghanistan and Iraq demonstrate that the U.S. does not have all the answers when it comes to creating stability and prosperity in the Mideast.
It would be wise for the U.S. and its allies to learn from its mistakes and take a more humble approach when addressing the challenges in the region.
There is a wish list and Reality!
Israel can’t work off of the West wish list, and its wholly unrealistic to ask or worse, demand, that Israel do so.
Today we must work off of . . . reality.
The U.S. and other Western countries need to recognize, focusing on the security and stability of the Palestinian people, rather than dictating a specific political agenda to Israel, only then can the U.S. and other countries help create a more peaceful and prosperous future for the region.
Clearly, the U.S.'s attempts as a nation-building is laughable, trying to implement Western values and culture in the Mideast through military intervention have been costly and ultimately futile.
The failure to transform Afghanistan and Iraq into westernized democracies after spending trillions of U.S. taxpayer dollars and sacrificing thousands of U.S. troops lives which has failed to bring an ounce of lasting peace and stability in the region has not only led to significant human and financial costs for the United States but have also highlighted the complex and deeply-rooted societal, cultural, and political challenges present in the Mideast.
In light of these failures, it's remains absurd for the U.S. to attempt to dictate to Israel who’s citizens were massacred and taken hostage solely because of their religion, how to solve its security challenges.
Western nations should recognize that the primary obstacle to the security and prosperity of the Palestinian people is Hamas. By diverting funds meant for development into its own pockets and using the Palestinian as human shields, Hamas is the real threat to the Palestinians.
Given U.S. and its allies failures in other Mideastern countries, it's somewhat hypocritical for the United States to insist on a specific approaches to solving the security challenges facing Israel and the Palestinian territories.
Consider, the U.S. has spent trillions of dollars and sacrificed thousands of lives in Afghanistan and Iraq with the end result being continued instability and security threats in these countries.
Hamas and Iran's proxies' goal is to eliminate the West . . . across the board.
The solution to bringing peace to the region and help the Palistinian people is to eliminate the existence of extremist groups such as Hamas, and any other group and/or proxy which continue to use violence and terrorism as a means to achieve anti western ends.
Standing up to such groups, doing with, determined resolve, coupled with strength, may wel send the message that Israel and her Western allies shall not cave.
Appeasement historically never works, it most definitely will not in the Mideast region, now or in the future.
