The deep state, what some — including President Donald Trump — have called the swamp, highlights this week's Newsmax Rising Bestsellers.

The offerings also include the notion that America isn't as divided as legacy media claims, an in-depth study of the Crusades, and a memoir of a Democrat senator who often thinks more like a Republican.

Then there is a historical novel with a thoroughly researched tale centered on the Vietnam War.

"Empire of Lies: Fragments From the Memory Hole," by Charles Goyette (The Libertarian Institute)

New York Times bestselling author Charles Goyette's eye-opening new book tells the story of the deep state's failed foreign interventions.

He also reveals the role that the lapdog legacy media plays in confirming the deep state's lies in support of the military-options-first foreign policy playbook.

Goyette, a self-declared libertarian who has appeared on Newsmax TV, submits that the deep state's deadly folly has resulted in moral failure, war profiteering, and ruthless public manipulation.

"Charles Goyette has provided historical context for the Deep State's involvement in the world's political and military affairs," wrote James E. Leemann for Amazon. "The book fills in the gaps in the history we lived through."  [Nonfiction]

"The Polarization Myth: America's Surprising Consensus on Race, Schools, and Sex," by Jonathan Butcher (Encounter Books)

Author Jonathan Butcher submits that despite the endless lamentations of Democrat politicians aired daily on TV and social media, America isn't as divided as portrayed — a fact that's supported by national polls.

We want to keep boys out of girls' sports and private spaces, we embrace merit over diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, we support law enforcement's efforts to keep our streets safe, and when it comes to voting, the public overwhelmingly favors photo ID at the polls and proof of citizenship when registering.

And Americans are in general agreement on these issues despite race, color, or political affiliation. It's only Democratic politicians who disagree.

"Americans are certainly divided about some important political issues," said Yuval Levin, author of "American Covenant." "But as Jonathan Butcher shows in this powerful and illuminating book, some of the most heated and familiar controversies of our time don't actually divide the public; they just divide a sliver of progressive elites from a broad and bipartisan public consensus. This is an essential read for understanding the dynamics of our politics."  [Nonfiction]

"The Two Swords of Christ: Five Centuries of War between Islam and the Warrior Monks of Christendom," by Raymond Ibrahim (Bombardier Books)

Following "Sword and Scimitar" and "Defenders of the West," this is the final volume of Raymond Ibrahim's trilogy and is the most action-packed of the three.

The author combines rigorous research and compelling storytelling to depict the defense of Christian civilization against the onslaught of marauding Islamic forces during the Crusades and beyond.

This is the 500-year history of the special forces of the era: the Warrior Monks.

"A dynamic revisionist account of the centuries of resistance to Islam by the knights of the beleaguered Temple and Hospital," wrote Victor Davis Hanson, Hoover Institute senior fellow. "'The Two Swords of Christ' constitutes the most vivid and significant volume in Ibrahim's riveting trilogy of often forgotten Western military heroism."   [Nonfiction]

"Unfettered," by John Fetterman (Crown)

This is the story of Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., in his own words.

It's the memoir of the steel-region Keystoner, who firmly places people over party — a fighter willing to take on Republicans and Democrats alike.

He follows other Democrat figures who have been at odds with their party, figures like former Sens. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., DNI Tulsi Gabbard, and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Despite his fights with Democratic leaders, Fetterman reveals that his greatest battles have been personal and private: his struggle to recover from a stroke that nearly ended his career and his lifelong battle with depression that nearly ended his life.

"'Unfettered' recounts a hugely compelling life story, one that is at times deeply traumatic but also utterly humble," wrote the Washington Free Beacon. "America has no more absolutely authentic an elected official than John Fetterman."  [Nonfiction]

"Precious Freedom: A Novel," by James Bradley (Skyhorse)

Best known for his New York Times bestseller "Flags of Our Fathers," the true stories of the six Marines who raised the flag after World War II's Battle of Iwo Jima, James Bradley now brings his distinctive writing style to the Vietnam War, but this time in a novel: "Precious Freedom."

Although it's fiction, Bradley spent a decade researching — speaking to U.S. Marines, Viet Cong snipers, and Vietnamese fighters, politicians, and leaders — to come up with this compelling story centered on a 19-year-old Marine enlistee.

Patriotism prompts him to answer the call, but what he finds in-country shakes his faith and causes him and his family back home to question the war's morality.

"James Bradley journeyed to Iwo Jima and returned with 'Flags of Our Fathers' and now ventures to Vietnam and brings us 'Precious Freedom,' where he reveals that, if we'd known what happened in the 1960s in Vietnam, American mothers would never have sent their children to Iraq and Afghanistan," wrote filmmaker Oliver Stone. "The truth is the best vaccination against great lies." [Fiction]
