Newsmax Contributor Bill Robinson continues his series profiling and interviewing America’s top conservative warriors: those who fight unwaveringly for American values. The first, profiling Fmr. Wis. Gov. Scott Walker may be found, on Newsmax, here.

(The opinions expressed here are those of Dave Brat and not any institution or other individual.)

“We’ve already bankrupted the next generation with $30 trillion of debt with no foreseeable way of paying it off.” - Dave Brat (1964- )

Who is this man, this conservative warrior Dave Brat who unseated the House majority leader in what the media called an "earthquake?"

Dave Brat, I’ve found, is almost universally liked.

It’s a combination of his genuine nature, direct manner and a swift sense of humor.

Brat’s story is not widely known.

"I was born in Detroit, Wayne County hospital," Brat began recollecting, "lived in Dearborn for a bit then moved to Alma, Michigan.

"Alma’s right in the center of the 'mitten' and home to the Scottish Festival. We lived out in the country," Brat fondly evoked, "with my two young brothers near a river and a swamp. And loved every minute of it with two loving parents guiding us all the way."

After graduating from high school in Minnesota, Brat added to that a B.A. in Business Administration, an M.A. in Divinity from the Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Economics from American University.

"Princeton Seminary was a key turning point for me; I thought I would end up a professor of Systematic Theology, and that was not far off as I went on to do a political semester down in D.C. working in the God box with about 30 Church groups on all sorts of policy issues.

"I realized my calling that the Church folks all had good hearts and good intentions, but we’re not very mature in the ways of business and economics in D.C. where I worked for the Army and World Bank . . . so I really did get the chance to do applied systematic theology."

In 2014, Brat ran for Congress against insufferable, weak RINO, Eric Cantor.

He was given little chance of beating the great pretender Cantor, who was poised to become speaker and acting a fool on immigration all over the U.S. House.

Let’s recall what the pseudo-intellectuals at The New York Times said about the Brat earthquake.

With only $200,000 to Cantor’s $5 million, Brat engaged in the kind of grass-roots, "right-wing populist" campaign that Trump would use a couple of years later.

Brat’s focus on what he termed Cantor’s "crony capitalist mentality," his own frugal spending style and his usage of the media and social media channels were the key reasons he won.

Brat beat Cantor by 12 points in what was the first time that a sitting House Majority Leader was beaten in a primary since that position was created in 1899.

After beating Cantor in the GOP Virginia primary, Brat then thrashed a Dem strawman candidate by almost 25 points in the general election.

In a video posted to YouTube by CNN (our churlish media source) titled "Even primary winner was surprised he beat Eric Cantor," the unwatchable cable channel was trying to make fun of Brat’s "dollars do not vote, you do" campaign strategy.

But after Brat’s national humiliation of CNN and Cantor’s "Dreamer" acquiescent, single-issue support of open borders, Brat showed them both who was who.

When asked about his time as a US Congressman from Virginia, Brat observed, "The second term was a ball. We had the House, Senate and White House. Then, when we didn’t get rid of Obamacare — the one thing we promised to do."

Thanks, John McCain.

"Once Trump came in the 'Deep State' activated and the media began writing hit pieces on you all day long. The more we tried to do, fight the fight, the worse it got."

"At my Church, a bunch of protestors stormed in and occupied the first three rows, dropping F-bombs."

"There are no fighters in Congress anymore. There has to be more teamwork between the check writers-donors and the Republicans."

What did Brat like about his time in Congress?

"I loved the Freedom Caucus, Jim Jordan (Ohio), Thomas Massie (Massachusetts), Andy Biggs (Arizona), Scott Perry (Pennsylvania) and Warren Davidson (Ohio)."

Brat added forlornly, "On the corruption in The Swamp, there is no way to articulate the scope and magnitude of corruption and outright evil at work from the leaders of this world back then and now, at present, as the Twitter files make abundantly clear.

"We have wars in play that are killing hundreds of thousands of innocent children on behalf of no articulated policy or goals that the American people have voted on or approved."

"The most important policy at present is China, and so it is fascinating to watch our leading CEOs and the establishment, and the mainstream press play along together.

"They think there is nothing morally wrong with doing business, and turning a blind eye to a totalitarian surveillance state that is repressing 30 million Chinese people in every major city at present, along with other crimes against humanity, and treating its people roughly as a slave class.

"All this in order to shave a nickel off the cost of our goods and deepen our profit margins while not noticing that the United States is starting to act more like China.

"We’re now an administrative state that has been proven to be corrupt, spied on its own people and put a major dent into our first amendment. When our intended policy was for China to liberalize, and look more like the West."

Ironic, eh?

So, what is Dave Brat doing now that makes him genuinely happy?

Well, he’s migrated from the "halls of power" to the "halls of learning" as Dean of the Liberty University School of Business.

Liberty is based in Lynchburg, Virginia and was founded in 1971.

"The students here are unbelievable," Brat began excitedly, "the faculty takes care of the students so well."

"We have an Entrepreneurship department linked to a sales curriculum, as well as schools in Business, Government, Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Engineering, and of course, Theology. To me, Theology is the grounding of Western civilization"

That final sentence clearly shows that Dave Brat has come full circle. From studying Theology as a young man to incorporating Theology into the Business program at Liberty University.

Dave Brat seems a truly fulfilled man now, working with young people again for the benefit of America.

Their (Dems) only way to pay it off is by running constant inflation and thereby stealing again from the hard-working families of the country, while the elites have been served 0% interest rates for a decade and a low-interest environment for the past 30 years. The economy is a disaster with productivity declining for the past 40 years.”
