The Kremlin said Tuesday the campaign for next year's presidential election in Russia had not yet begun and that there could be a varying number of candidates who put themselves forward.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the comments in response to a question about if and when President Vladimir Putin would announce his own candidacy.
Peskov gave no details about Putin's future political plans.
