While a U.S.-sponsored “Friends of Syria” meeting held in Istanbul yesterday took some small steps in support of the Syrian opposition, the rebels remain hopelessly out-gunned and appear to have no hope of receiving any significant military aid. Meanwhile, the Assad regime is craftily manipulating the world community’s reluctance to get more involved with the backing of Russia and China.
