BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — More than a month after a horrific nightclub fire in southern Bucharest, authorities say that more than 50 people remain hospitalized suffering from burns they sustained in the fire that killed 60.

The health ministry said Thursday 23 patients are being treated in Bucharest hospitals, and of those three are in a critical condition. Some 29 are hospitalized abroad, in Britain, the Netherlands, Austria, Israel and Germany.

The Oct. 30 fire at Colectiv, a popular rock club, broke out during a heavy-metal concert when a spark from a pyrotechnics show ignited foam decor, sending panicked people stampeding to the single exit.

The initial death toll was 26, but it rose over the following days and weeks due to complications caused by burns and the inhalation of toxic gases.
