CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley is reportedly being shifted permanently to the network's news magazine "60 Minutes."

The New York Post's Page Six column reported CBS News president David Rhodes is behind the abrupt move.

While Pelley's ratings have been down, "There's also been friction between him and [Rhodes]," one source told the newspaper.

"[Pelley] was pushed out of the 'Evening News,'" another unnamed source told Page Six. "It’s been coming for a long time. "This could have been handled better — [Pelley] is away on a story, and they're cleaning out his office. It's not the correct way to treat the face of CBS News."

No replacement has yet been named, Page Six reported.

Pelley has been in the anchor chair at the network since he succeeded Katie Couric in 2011.
