Most voters believe the world is "going to hell in a handbasket," according to a new Fox News poll.
The telephone survey asked 1,012 registered voters whether they thought, considering the world situation, "Things are going to hell in a handbasket" or "Everything will be alright."
A total of 58 percent said the world is going to hell, while 35 percent said they believe things will work out.
Almost half of Democrats – 48 percent – agreed the world is going to hell in a handbasket while 61 percent of independents thought so. When Republicans were asked, 71 percent agreed with the grim assessment.
The poll was conducted on landline and cell phones October 12-14 and has a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.
