O. J. Simpson has spoken out after Jeffrey Toobin, who wrote a book about his trial, was suspended from The New Yorker after exposing himself during a Zoom call.

“Damn, Jeffrey Toobin,” Simpson said in a Twitter video. “At least Pee-wee Herman was in an X-rated movie theatre. I’m just saying.”

Pee-wee Herman is the fictional character portrayed by Paul Reubens who pled guilty to indecent exposure in 1991.

Toobin wrote “The Run of His Life: The People v. O. J. Simpson,” a book about the court case surrounding the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.

O. J. Simpson was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife and her friend, but he was later ordered to pay the victims’ families $33.5 million after being found liable in a civil case.

Toobin said in a statement to Vice apologizing for his actions that he “thought no one on the Zoom call could see” him.
