NAPLES —  The founder of Domino's Pizza and Ave Maria University is branching out to a whole new delivery business — gourmet burgers.

Thomas Monaghan will open his first hamburger delivery business in Naples. The store, near the fancy shopping area of Fifth Avenue South, is expected to open in mid-December.

Another store is in the works at 93rd Avenue North and U.S. 41, near Joe's Diner in North Naples, reports the Naples Daily News.

"We want to get these two perfected before we sign any more leases," said Monaghan, 74.

This businessness will be called Gyrene Burger. Monaghan wants to turn this into a gourmet burger franchise which delivers only the main offering -- no drinks or side items. He hopes to franchise it one day.

"Nothing like this has ever been done before," Monaghan said.

But don't expect a wide variety of choices: just two types of burgers will be offered, classic with pickles and mustard, and the deluxe, which will have lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. Both will cost around $6, have double Angus beef patties, plus cheese and bacon.
