Out of caution amid global coronavirus fears, MGM has announced it will temporarily close its buffet lines at seven Las Vegas casino resorts.
The closure will begin Sunday, March 15 and be re-evaluated on a weekly basis at MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, ARIA, Bellagio, Mirage, Luxor, and Excalibur, according KLAS TV in Las Vegas reported.
"The safety and health of guests and employees continue to be top priority as the company works with local health officials on protocol and procedures during this time," MGM Resorts wrote in statement obtained by KLAS.
Also, per the statement, staff affected by the temporary closures will "work directly with MGM's Labor Relations department to assist with any employment changes, transitions or questions as part of the temporary Buffet closure process.
Thus far, there are just four coronavirus cases confirmed in Nevada, but there is a transient nature of Las Vegas tourism that might ultimately increase exposure.
