NEW ORLEANS — A federal judge has sentenced two former New Orleans police officers for their roles in the shooting death of a man whose body was later burned following Hurricane Katrina.
Former officer David Warren was sentenced to 25 years in prison. He was convicted of shooting 31-year-old Henry Glover without justification outside a strip mall less than a week after the August 2005 storm.
Ex-officer Gregory McRae was sentenced to 17 years in prison. McRae burned Glover's body in a car near a police station where Glover was shot.
A total of 20 current or former New Orleans police officers were charged last year in a series of Justice Department investigations. The probe of Glover's death was the first of those cases to be tried.
