WASHINGTON - A senior Democratic aide said on Tuesday it is unclear if there is enough support among Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives to change the estate tax provision in the sweeping Senate tax bill.

The aide said while many Democrats see the provision as excessively generous to the wealthy, there may not be enough votes to tighten it.

"It would give members a chance to vent to vote against it," the aide said. "But I doubt" there are enough votes to change it.
