Mark Zuckerberg has announced Facebook employees will likely work remotely for the next five to 10 years, during a video Q&A to the company.
About 95% of employees at the social media company are currently working from home, Zuckerberg said. The company sent most of its workers home in March as a precaution to once the coronavirus pandemic hit.
Facebook will let employees with positive performance reviews apply to work remotely permanently. The company had previously announced its workers could telecommute through the end of 2020.
Facebook also plans to launch hiring hubs in Atlanta, Denver, and Dallas. Zuckerberg also said the company will begin to bring on more remote workers, with an emphasis in hiring workers who live near existing offices.
Zuckerberg also mentioned pay for remote workers might depend on the cost-of-living where they live.
Twitter and Square have also recently announced its employees would be able to work from home permanently.
