Sixty-six percent of Americans now say they will try to get a COVID-19 vaccine, according to a new CNN poll.

The number marks an increase from the 51% who said in an October poll — taken before the vaccines had been approved for use — that they would get vaccinated.

Here are highlights from the poll, conducted by SSRS:

  • 49% of Republicans are now willing to get the vaccine, compared to 45% in October.
  • 83% of Democrats are willing to get vaccinated, compared to 61% in October.
  • 49% of all those surveyed say the worst of the outbreak in the U.S. is behind us, compared to 47% say the worst is ahead.
  • 30% of Republicans say the worst is ahead, compared to 16% who felt that way in October.
  • 38% of Democrats say the worst is behind — the largest share to say so since the start of the pandemic.
  • 87% of all those 65 or older are willing to get vaccinated — an increase from the 60% who said so in October.
  • 48% of Americans say they are experiencing a financial hardship due to the pandemic, including 13% who say it is a “severe” hardship.

The poll, conducted Jan. 9-14, surveyed 1,003 people. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.
