Governor Chris Christie said he is setting up a program in the New Jersey comptroller’s office to make spending on recovery from Hurricane Sandy transparent, as Democrats question a $100 million contract awarded for debris cleanup.
Christie, speaking in Union Beach today, said Democrats are “ill-informed” on the contract, and that companies like the one that got the debris-removal job, Ashbritt Inc., have experience working with FEMA.
“It’s not a no-bid contract,” said Christie, 50, a first- term Republican seeking re-election.
