Dr. Ben Carson: VA Troubles Could Be Precursor to Obamacare

The current VA scandal that has left veterans waiting weeks and months for medical care, with fatal results for some, could be a preview of the effects of Obamacare once it is fully implemented, says Dr. Ben Carson.

"I don't see how it wouldn't be," Carson said Monday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity."  "It's the same precursor. Why wouldn't you have the same result?"

What's going on in the VA is exactly what one would expect when there are multiple layers of bureaucracy between physicians and patients, he said.

"A patient, a healthcare provider: That's all you need," Carson told Hannity. "Along comes the middleman to facilitate the relationship. It has become the primary entity."

In medicine, decisions are based on what has happened in the past, said Carson, emeritus professor of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery, and pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

In government, he said, decisions are based on ideology.
