A group of Black Lives Matter activists were caught on video harassing and heckling diners at a taqueria in New York City, yelling at them to"get the ---- out" and shouting that the "white-owned" establishment was not welcome.
The incident was recorded on a video posted by Andy Ngo just hours after a jury found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty on Tuesday on all three charges in connection with the death of George Floyd last May.
Many major metropolitan areas, including New York City, were on heightened alert for possible unrest after the jury delivered its verdict.
The case sparked months of demonstrations and riots across the United States and inflamed an already impassioned debate about race and the justice system.
In the video, the man egging on the crowd leads them in more chants directed towards the taqueria diners, including “We don’t want your ----ing money!"
Comments on the video varied, with many wondering if such instances will become even more commonplace following the Chauvin jury’s verdict, Fox News reported.
One commentator said that leaving New York was something he did two decades ago, a move he called a "great decision."
Journalist Nick Pinto also recorded his observation of New York City demonstrations on Twitter.
Newsweek described how Pinto followed a march by the group NYC Shut It Down, which protests against alleged police racism. Pinto wrote how the demonstrators marched eastwards from the Barclays building to Vanderbilt Avenue, where they paused outside of Maya Taqueria "to castigate the outdoor diners."
