The Westboro Baptist Church has blamed the deadly Oklahoma tornado on NBA player Jason Collins' recent declaration that he's gay.

Fred Phelps Jr., son of Westboro minister and founder Fred Phelps, took to Twitter Tuesday to point the finger at Oklahoma City Thunder player Kevin Durant. Phelps believes Monday's tornado was the result of God's fury over Durant voicing his support for Collins' coming out last month.

This isn't the first time a natural disaster has been pinned on the gay community. In 2012, right-wing Christian preacher John McTernan blamed Hurricane Sandy on LGBT people and President Barack Obama's backing of gay marriage.

It also isn't the only explanation floating around for the tornado. Radio host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones detailed his theory as to what caused the tornado on his radio show Tuesday. Jones explained that the natural disaster could have been a "weather weapon" controlled by the government, which "can create and steer groups of tornadoes."
