Italian motorcyclist Andrea Antonelli was killed Sunday in a high-speed crash during a World Supersport Championship race in Moscow.
Antonelli, 25, lost control of his Kawasaki during the first lap of the race and collided with fellow Italian Lorenzo Zanetti, who was traveling more than 150 mph.
"Despite their efforts, Andrea sadly succumbed to his injuries at 2:10 p.m. local time," FIM World Championship, the sport's sanctioning body, said in a statement. "Everyone involved in motorcycle championships extends its deepest condolences to Andrea's family, friends, team, and the Italian Federation at this tragic loss."

Massimo Corbascio, one of the doctors who worked to resuscitate Antonelli, said there was "absolutely nothing" they could do to save him.
"In these cases, even if you intubate someone and take them to the intensive care unit — he remains a body attached to a machine with no brain, there's just blood in the brain,"
Corbascio told SportingLife.com.
Supersport fans took to Twitter to mourn the tragic loss of Antonelli.
