Trump campaign CEO Steve Bannon was among several people mentioned Thursday as candidates for chief of staff to President-elect Donald Trump.
Bannon, 62, the chairman of Breitbart News, joined Trump's campaign in August.
His possible role at the White House was first reported by The New York Times.
Bannon has said he would not be interested in serving in any Trump administration.
Others under consideration included Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, campaign manager Kellyanne Conway and Jared Kushner, who is Trump's son-in-law and owner of The New York Observer.
Kushner, 35, who is married to Ivanka Trump, toured the White House grounds with Denis McDonough, chief of staff to President Barack Obama — while Trump and the current president met in the Oval Office, The New York Post reported.
Priebus declined to speculate on what position he might hold under President Trump.
"It's really not an issue," he told Wolf Blitzer on CNN. "Honestly, it just isn't.
"Basically, most of us have had two hours of sleep in four days," Priebus added. "People are taking a breath, getting some of the details figured out."
