Donald Trump's failure to capture 1,237 delegates and win the GOP presidential nomination would result in "more than a hundred delegates" yanking their support from him on a second ballot at the Republican National Convention this July,
Politico reports.
Delegates, delegate candidates, operatives and party leaders interviewed by the political news website believe a contested convention is more likely because of Trump's lower poll numbers in Wisconsin, where a pivotal GOP primary takes place Tuesday.
"One of Trump's top advisers privately acknowledged worries to a Republican operative that Trump might not make it to 1,237 and aired concerns that his rivals are better-positioned to win a drawn-out convention, according to the operative," Politico said.

Fox Business Network poll puts GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz ahead of rival Donald Trump by 10 points in the upcoming Wisconsin primary election.
In the poll of a random sample of 1,602 Wisconsin voters, including 742 likely Republican voters, showed:
- Cruz, 42 percent;
- Trump, 32 percent;
- Ohio Gov. John Kasich, 19 percent.
