The National Rifle Association raised $1.1 million in January, its best fundraising month since August 2012.
The information comes from the NRA’s political action committee’s latest filing with the Federal Election Commission.
This boost in contributions from gun supporters reflects the concerns they have that Congress and President Obama are ready to implement steps to curb or limit access to firearms.
The committee raised approximately $600,000 a month during 2011 and 2012, for a two-year total of $14.3 million.
The 1.1 million is nearly double the PAC’s 2011-12 fundraising pace. This comes in a month that saw Obama and congressional Democrats dedicate themselves to passing new gun control measures.
As of the end of January, the NRA’s PAC had $2.4 million on hand with no debt.
