President Donald Trump being out on the campaign trail is boosting GOP voter turnout by bringing awareness to Senate and gubernatorial races across the country, says Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.
"We knew that Democrats were going to have a lot of energy coming into the midterm because they historically do," McDaniel told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "They want the majorities back and we've seen that in the special elections throughout the past two years. Republicans are matching the energy. It is like 2016 level turnout right now."
Meanwhile, the economy is good and Republicans are "on a comeback," and Democrats want to stop that, she added.
"These late voters, these independent voters, when they are looking at the results of the Republican Party and this president, and the resistance of the Democrats, it is a no-brainer," McDaniel said. "We need to close strong and tell voters it is the economy, economy, economy."
The party is facing "headwinds" when it comes to the House, but if the party can bring out voters by showing them that Republicans have delivered, Democrats can't take credit, said McDaniel.
The chairwoman, though, thinks the elections are neck-and-neck in many states, and she does not think there will be a "blue wave" in next week's election.
"It is tight in a lot of these districts," McDaniel said. "I think there are about 20 House districts that could go either way. Iowa, North Carolina, California, there will be bellwether seats that could go either way."
