McCain is recruiting candidates, raising money, and hitting the campaign trail for them. He’s taken sides in competitive House, Senate, and gubernatorial primaries and introduced his preferred candidates to his top donors, according to Politico.
Those familiar with McCain’s thinking say his efforts stem from his concern about the Republican Party's direction.
