A former official of the controversial data firm Cambridge Analytica is working for President Donald Trump's campaign, Politico is reporting.
Matt Oczkowski worked as head of product at Cambridge prior to the time it went bankrupt and closed down in 2018, according to Politico. The website attributed the information to two sources.
Politico reported that Oczkowski joined the reelection campaign in January. He also worked on Trump's 2016 campaign.
Cambridge Analytica is alleged to have improperly obtained the personal information of tens of millions of Facebook users. Trump aides have denied they used the firm's Facebook data in 2016 and have said they won't in 2020.
Politico noted the firm was also the subject of headlines after it was revealed that Cambridge CEO Alexander Nix reached out to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in 2016 to help distribute Hillary Clinton's emails.
Oczkowski specializes in data and behavioral science. Sources say he will devote his time for the Trump campaign to data-focused projects.
