Democratic strategist Joe Trippi says he'd rather see a Democrat face Texas Sen. Ted Cruz than Donald Trump in November because Cruz is more predictable.
"Look, he stays in his lane. He's very predictable," Trippi said of Cruz during Fox News Channel's election night coverage on Tuesday. "And Trump is completely underestimatable and unpredictable. So given all that, I'd much rather as a Democrat face Ted Cruz than Donald Trump."
With Cruz, the race would be a more classic conservative/liberal contest, he said. And, Trippi said, Trump will be more likely to bring in blue collar Democrats.
"That a possibility," he said. "Why even go there? The entire Republican Party underestimated this guy. I'm not a Democrat who wants to do that."
