Rep. Jim Himes: Trump's Tweets Are 'Uncertain, Confusing'

Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., called President Donald Trump's tweets about private conversations with ousted FBI Director James Comey "uncertain and confusing."

Himes's comments came during an interview on CNN's "New Day" after he was asked whether he believed tapes of the conversations exist.

"I have no idea," he said. "All I have to go on is the president's tweets. What's the right way to characterize the president's tweets, right? Uncertain and confusing. So, he makes reference to the possibility that there are tapes."

Trump's tweet last month touched off speculation about the possibility of tapes:

Himes noted the House Intelligence Committee has asked that those tapes — if they do exist — be turned over by Friday. Trump's attorney Jay Sekulow told CBS' "Face the Nation" he expects Trump will address the issue this week.
