Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush tweeted Thursday that controversial comments from President Donald Trump about about the death toll in Puerto Rico were "incredibly disheartening."
Trump generated a firestorm earlier Thursday by tweeting that the estimated death toll of 3,000 in the U.S. territory stemming from two hurricanes in 2017 was intentionally inflated by Democrats to make the president "look as bad as possible."
"Incredibly disheartening comments from our president," Bush tweeted.
Trump beat the former Florida governor for the GOP nomination for president in 2016.
