Jeb Bush is leading Hillary Clinton by 5 percentage points in Michigan, a new
Free Press/WXYZ-TV poll reveals, marking an 8 point swing from June, when Clinton was ahead by 8 points.
The poll said 45 percent of voters support Bush to 40 percent for Clinton. However, Clinton still came out ahead of GOP front-runner Donald Trump by 44 percent to 42 percent.
Michigan is a traditionally Democratic state, so it "suggests something is going on" for Bush to be ahead of Clinton, said Bernie Porn, president of Lansing-based pollster EPIC-MRA.
The poll carried a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
Clinton's favorability ratings also suffered in the survey of 600 Michigan voters, with 55 percent viewing her unfavorably. Trump's favorability rating was about the same, at 56 percent.
