Fired Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski lost a $1.2-million book deal over his non-disclosure agreement,
Politico reports.
Lewandowski's representative began shopping the book, tentatively titled "Let Trump Be Trump," in March – and piqued interest from as many as five publishing houses, Politico reports, citing unnamed sources.
According to Politico, Lewandowski personally got involved in talks with HarperCollins, and assured the publisher he'd gotten a green light from the campaign to write the book.
HarperCollins made its $1.2-million offer in mid-May, Politico reports – but Lewandowski withdrew after
BuzzFeed wrote about the book writing.
Nevertheless, HarperCollins pressed ahead, asking to review a copy of the non-disclosure agreement Lewandowski signed as a pre-condition of his employment with Trump, Politico reports. Lewandowski refused, and HarperCollins dropped out.
Lewandowski
has been unwavering in his support of Trump – but dodges the nature of his non-disclosure pact.
"I can tell you that my situation with Mr. Trump is unique to my situation with Mr. Trump and I can’t tell you about what other people do, but I can tell you this: I will do everything I can to make sure Donald Trump is elected the next president of the United States because our country is in too much trouble if he isn’t," he told NBC News’ Peter Alexander,
