President Donald Trump accused prominent Washington, D.C., journalist Bob Woodward of being a Democratic "operative" Tuesday as he pushes back on negative claims about the Trump White House in Woodward's forthcoming book.
Trump first tweeted out statements from White House chief of staff John Kelly, Secretary of Defense James Mattis, and White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, who all denounced the book.
He then released his own statement via a strongly worded tweet:
"The Woodward book has already been refuted and discredited by General (Secretary of Defense) James Mattis and General (Chief of Staff) John Kelly. Their quotes were made up frauds, a con on the public. Likewise other stories and quotes. Woodward is a Dem operative? Notice timing?"
Woodward's book — "Fear: Trump in the White House" — will be available Sept. 11. It paints a poor picture of the Trump administration through the eyes of those in Trump's inner circle.
