The Congressional Black Caucus is expected to turn down a request to meet with President Donald Trump, Politico reported.
Citing four sources close to the CBC, Politico noted members are concerned any meeting with Trump would just result in a photo op for the president to use to improve his standing with African-Americans.
They also claim he has done little to address the CBC's agenda since meeting with the group's executive board in March.
"No one wants to be a co-star on the reality show," the website quoted one senior Democratic aide.
Meanwhile, Rep. Cedric Richmond, D-La., the chairman of the CBC, is asking the Trump administration to direct more resources toward solving hate crimes against minorities, The Hill reported.
"Surely there is no greater cause of a government than to protect the lives of its citizens, particularly those uniquely vulnerable to hate, intolerance, and violence," Richmond wrote in a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly and acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe.
