The United States has been playing defense — and needs "to go on the offensive" to stop illegal immigration at the nation's southern border, retired Army Major Gen. Paul Vallely told Newsmax TV on Thursday.
In an interview on "Newsmax Now," Vallely said sending U.S. troops to help in support roles will not be enough.
