The coronavirus pandemic that’s forced changes in how millions of Americans work, worship, learn, socialize, and vote was the pretext this month for another major alteration in U.S. life – and death – as the Biden administration decided to allow abortion pills to be shipped by mail.

The acting commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration revised a policy that previously required women to visit clinics in person to obtain the drugs needed to terminate a pregnancy.
