Steve Deace: Cruz Bearing Fruit in Iowa By Attacking Trump From the Right

Ted Cruz is going to beat Donald Trump in the Iowa caucuses on Monday because the Texas senator "is the first person to actually attack Trump from the right on values and on issues," Iowa radio talk-show host Steve Deace told Newsmax TV on Tuesday.

"No one has done that before," he told "Newsmax Prime" hosts J.D. Hayworth and Miranda Khan. "In the end, people want to vote for a conservative.

"Nobody cares who's nice when your country's falling apart. They want to know who's going to do something about it.

"People don't want to just send a message," Deace said. "They want to elect a president."

Deace, who endorsed Cruz's campaign last August, questioned polls showing Trump ahead of Cruz by double digits in the Hawkeye State "because people don't know how to poll Iowa.

"They don't know how to find out who going to actually vote."

But those caucus-goers will be evangelicals, he told Newsmax, and they are strongly backing Cruz.

"He's got the best evangelical outreach organization in this state," Deace said. "We've had three contested Iowa caucuses this century — 2000, '08, and '12 — and the guy who did the best with evangelical voters won them all.

"Cruz has just as good an evangelical organization, if not better, than those three individuals did — and that's why he's going to win on Monday."
