Men going in for a prostate cancer test should refrain from sexual activity for up to 48 hours before, according to Dr. David Samadi, chief of robotics and minimally invasive surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.
Samadi told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV that the PSA blood test, which is performed at a doctor's office, can be adversely affected if the patient has sex a day or two before.

"One of the reasons why the PSA can go up when you're in the doctor's office is having sexual activity 24 to 48 hours before your office visit," Samadi said.
"You want to make sure you refrain from any kind of sexual activity for two days before and that's when you get your PSA … that's a very accurate recommendation."
