Still salty about West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin's tie-breaking vote for the Inflation Reduction Act, Senate Republicans blocked efforts to include Manchin's signature energy permitting proposal in the government funding bill, Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kansas, told Newsmax.

Appearing on "Rob Schmitt Tonight," Marshall said Manchin made a "sweetheart deal" when he agreed to vote for the Inflation Reduction Act, but he didn't foresee Republicans going against him in his energy legislation.

"This was a sweetheart deal for West Virginia," Marshall said. "There is a pipeline coming out of West Virginia ... but the rest of the country be damned. It would have hurt Kansas' oil and gas industry. So I think Joe Manchin learned his lesson here."
