The House Ways and Means Committee is recommending contempt charges against former IRS official Lois Lerner, Rep. Kevin Brady told John Bachman and J.D. Hayworth on Newsmax TV's "America's Forum" on Wednesday.
The Texas Republican said Lerner's refusal to cooperate with the committee's investigation into alleged targeting of tea party groups by the IRS is indicative of the Obama administration's tendency to ignore laws it doesn't feel like upholding.
"In the long term, we just can't stand by in this America and allow any White House, any IRS, any official to target people based – in effect, silence their voices because they disagree with this government," Brady said.
