Thursday, 10 July 2014 03:22 PM EDT ET

David Catanese, senior political writer for U.S. News & World Report joins Ed Berliner on "MidPoint" on Newsmax TV on Thursday to discuss the political fallout of President Barack Obama's unpopularity and how Democratic Sen. Mark Udall of Colorado wouldn't appear publicly with Obama when he visited the Centennial State.

"In Colorado, a swing state, more of a purplish state, the president's approval rating is far under that 50 percent mark," Catanese said. "It is not surprising that he doesn't want to share a stage with the president, doesn't want to be on that front page of the Denver Post with his arm around the president."
