Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg plans to address publicly the data harvesting revelations that have hammered the integrity and financials of his social media giant, Axios reports.

Zuckerberg has been silent to this point since the news surfaced that the firm Cambridge Analytica had accessed data on 50 million Facebook users and leveraged it to aid President Donald Trump's social media strategy during the 2016 campaign.

"It's a big deal, and he knows it," a source told Axios.

Zuckerberg is expected to go public in the next 24 hours, Axios reports, adding that his message will be one of rebuilding trust.
